Reflection
A Semester Exploration in Design Communication...
Reflecting on the Design Communication module undertaken in my first semester of the Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Architecture, I find the experience to be enriching and comprehensive. The lectures provided a strong theoretical foundation, while the project and tutorial exercises allowed me to apply these theories practically. The hands-on approach enhanced my understanding of design communication principles and improved my practical skills in conveying architectural concepts.

The learning platform encompassed both traditional face-to-face interactions and modern digital channels like MyTIMeS, Facebook, and Telegram. MyTIMeS served as a official resource hub, while platforms like Facebook and Telegram facilitated dynamic discussions and quick exchanges of ideas among peers. This blended approach catered to various learning styles and ensured a well-rounded educational experience. Our tutor, Ms Lok Mei, played a pivotal role, providing guidance and fostering a supportive learning environment. Dr. Lia, the Module Coordinator, effectively organized resources, ensuring a seamless flow of information throughout the semester.

Over the span of 14 weeks, I made significant progress and attained several Taylor's Graduate Capabilities (TGC).

Firstly, the module emphasized the importance of effective communication (TGC 4.0) in architectural design, encompassing visual, written, and verbal aspects. From presenting ideas visually to conveying concepts through written and verbal means, the importance of clear communication became evident. Secondly, the module equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of various digital tools (TGC 8.0) for design communication. Learning to utilize software efficiently not only enhanced my technological proficiency but also opened up new avenues for creative expression and visualization. Lastly, I have obtained TGC 5.0: Interpersonal Skills through projects and tutorial exercises, I learned the importance of constructive critique and collaborative work. Engaging in discussions, both online and face-to-face, provided diverse perspectives, fostering a rich learning environment that encourages continuous improvement and innovation in design. These learnings are pivotal as they bridge theoretical knowledge with practical application, aligning with the core principles of effective design communication.
