Project 1C

MyReka-reasi Cluster - Individual ( 70% )

Building on the explorations in Project 1A and 1B, we are now tasked with designing a Creative and Recreational Hub at Taman Wawasan Recreational Park. The design must respond to the site's context and the diverse needs of its regular users, aiming to foster community empowerment through social, cultural, and wellness-oriented activities. Our design should integrate ideas from previous projects, particularly the focus on materiality, environmental poetics, and community interaction, creating a vibrant space that reflects the spirit of Taman Wawasan and its people.

Reflection

TGC 1.1 Able to put theories into practice

In this design process, I learned how materiality and detailing play a crucial role in shaping spatial experiences. I applied my theoretical knowledge of textures, joinery, and finishes to make informed design decisions that enhance how users interact with the space. Exploring different materials helped me understand how to evoke specific emotions and atmospheres, allowing me to turn abstract concepts into tangible experiences. This experience showed me the importance of translating theory into practice to achieve meaningful architectural outcomes.

TGC 3.1 Think critically and creatively

Through this project, I learned how important it is to think critically and creatively when analysing a site. By observing the environmental qualities and contextual needs, I was able to understand how the natural elements—like sunlight, wind, and vegetation—could influence my design decisions. It pushed me to move beyond standard solutions and explore sustainable strategies that respond specifically to the site. This process taught me that creative thinking isn’t just about form, but about how a design can adapt to and enhance its environment in a thoughtful and responsible way.

TGC 8.1 Effective use of ICT and related technology

I’ve developed greater confidence in using digital tools to communicate architectural ideas clearly and effectively. By producing both 2D and 3D drawings, building models, and preparing verbal presentations, I explored how ICT tools like AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Photoshop can support the expression of clustered spatial typology. These platforms allowed me to test design ideas, refine spatial relationships, and present my concepts in a compelling and professional manner. This process has deepened my appreciation for how technology enhances both design thinking and communication.
