Project 1a
Pre-Design Studies & Analysis - Group ( 15% )
This project requires students to work in groups to study and analyse the site before beginning the design process. The task involves understanding the site through sensing the city, urban and site analysis, impact analysis, precedent studies, and preliminary design studies. Based on these findings, students are required to identify key site issues and opportunities, understand user and community needs, and formulate a suitable architectural position, project intent, programme, and initial design strategies to guide the next design phase.

Reflection
TGC 2.2 Locate, extract, synthesize and utilize information effectively
Through this project, I learned how to locate, extract, synthesise, and utilise information effectively by gathering different types of site data and identifying the information that was most relevant to the project. Instead of simply collecting information, I learned to connect the findings with the people, place, and time of the site. This helped me produce a concise yet comprehensive site study and better understand how the analysis could guide an architectural response that creates a meaningful impact on its users and surrounding context.
TGC 3.2 Define and analyse problems to arrive at effective solutions
Through the pre-design studies and analysis, I learned how to define and analyse problems to arrive at effective solutions by identifying the key issues, opportunities, and constraints within the site. This process helped me understand that design decisions should not be based only on ideas, but supported by proper analysis. By studying the site carefully, I was able to use the findings to guide my design direction and develop a more relevant and responsive architectural solution.
