Project 1b

Design Strategies and Exploration - Individual ( 20% )

This project requires students to develop and explore an individual architectural design proposal based on the findings from the pre-design studies. The process involves establishing a clear design narrative and concept, developing the programme and spatial organisation, studying relevant precedents, exploring form and material strategies, and testing ideas through sketches, diagrams, and physical models. These explorations are used to progressively refine the design into a meaningful response to the site, users, and project intentions.

TGC 2.2 Locate, extract, synthesize and utilize information effectively

Through exploring the project brief, I learned to locate, extract, synthesise, and utilise information effectively by identifying the key requirements, constraints, and objectives that were most relevant to my design. This helped me organise the information clearly and translate it into appropriate design parameters, giving me a stronger foundation to guide my design decisions and further exploration.

TGC 3.1 Think critically and creatively

Through developing my design strategy, I learned to think critically and creatively by exploring different ideas, testing various design approaches, and evaluating which responses worked best for the project. This process helped me transform my initial concept into clearer spatial and architectural strategies while continuously refining the design based on the site, programme, and user needs.
